For surely I know
the plans I have for you,
says the LORD,
plans for your welfare
and not for harm,
to give you a
future with hope.
(Jeremiah 29:11)

On Monday, August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck southeast Louisiana, causing untold damage in New Orleans and the entire region. Three weeks later, on Saturday, September 24, Hurricane Rita came ashore in southwest Louisiana/southeast Texas, bringing damaging winds, flooding, storm surge, and devastation.

Although some time has passed since the storms, the needs are still great. Entire communities were under several feet of water for several weeks, and neighborhoods still bear the scars of the storm. Hundreds of thousands of people were forced to evacuate. Some have returned; many have not. Church buildings were severely damaged, and congregations have been forever changed.

This web site exists to connect ministries affected by the Gulf Coast hurricanes with individuals, congregations, conferences, and synods who are generously responding to this great need.  On the pages of this web site are the stories of the relief ministries and opportunities that are occurring and will continue to occur.

God is calling us to a new future in the areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita - and we believe God is working through all of us to make that future a reality.  This will be a long and sometimes frustrating journey of recovery; however, we trust that God is with us every step of the way, providing a future with hope.
