Hurricane Ike made landfall in Galveston, Texas but many southwest Louisiana towns were devastated by a tidal surge that was greater than that of Hurricane Rita in September, 2005.  Many of these towns were overshadowed by the damage done by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and seem to be getting overlooked yet again by damage done to larger communities. 

One area that has sustained considerable damage due to Hurricane Ike is Cameron parish.

It has been reported that the entire parish has been inundated with seawater from the tidal surge.  Very few residences were spared from these flood waters.  Most homes had between 6inches and 4 feet of water inside, but a few had over 6 feet of water.  Many of these residences are newly rebuilt or new constructions due to similar flooding after Hurricane Rita.   Residents of the numerous small towns within this parish need our help.
