WELCOME!
Welcome to the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod (ELCA) Web-blog: Communication in Times of Disaster!
This blog is set up to communicate with congregation members, leaders, and friends in the event of a disaster. There is a “blog stream” — an interactive conversation — set up for each congregation of the synod. (See the drop-down menu on the right.) In addition, a separate stream or thread has been established for rostered leaders to check in with the synod office and to communicate with colleagues.
FOR ALL PASTORS AND ROSTERED LEADERS
All rostered leaders impacted at the time of a disaster are asked to check in with the synod office to let us know how you are, where you are, and whatever information you may have about about your congregation. If you have information about others, please share that as well.
Simply click here to add your information to those posted.
God be with you. BE SAFE!
FOR EVERYONE — COMMUNICATING IN A TIME OF DISASTER
We hope and pray that you are safe and out of harm’s way.
Please use this site and share it with others to stay in touch with other members of your congregation when people are scattered and displaced … to let others know where you are and how you are doing .., to communicate with your pastor and others … to receive the support of friends and brothers and sisters in Christ from around the world.
We hope that this blog will be used to check in, communicate status and needs, request and offer prayer, and serve as a vehicle for community and ministry in a time of disaster.
Congregational members and rostered leaders can keep in touch by posting information and messages to one another. Use the drop-down menu on the top right of this page to find your congregation. (Note the congregations are grouped by conference.) Or, the Search box on the bottom right side of this page may be useful to find information about a particular congregation or individual. (Be sure check “incl. comments” option when searching for best results.)
You can also view all entries and comments by clicking on the Entries RSS or Comments RSS links under Log-In, Register and View. (If you visit these links, you may want to refresh the Comments RSS page in your browser to ensure you are viewing the most recent entries.)
NOTE: You don’t have to register to view a comment. You will need to provide your name and email address (your address will not be published or shared) to add a comment. You will need to register if you want to post a new thread.
If you are a rostered leader whose congregation is not listed in the list of churches and would like to set up a blog for your congregation on this site, please contact me at john@futurewithhope.org. The blog is checked often and will be monitored regularly in times of disaster.
God Bless! Be safe!
